Albtelecom as the largest Company of telecommunication in Albania, involved in the privatization process as part of Çalik Holding, decided to take a 100 million Euro credit by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERZH) and by Black Sea Bank for Trade and Development (BTDB).
After the privatization and entering into the e Çalik Group family, Albtelecom signed lately an agreement for 100 million euro credit for the modernization of this company. 75 million euro credit will be given by European Bank for Reconstructioning and Development (BERZH) where as the rest of 25 millions euro credit will be financed by Bank of Black Sea for Trade and Development (BTDB). Through this investment, Albtelecom will invest and develop, enlarge and improve the actual network, increase the capacities and improve the quality of service of telecommunication for it’s subscribers.
Holding gives to historical and cultural ties with Albania, Ahmet Çalik said: "we feel proud to be here in Albania, as part of Albanian economy in it`s development and revival process by giving our contribution". Çalik Group took 76 per cent of Albtelecom after the privatization which started with the bid in the year 2005 and by giving the amount of 120 million euro, became the biggest foreign investor in the country. In the framework of regional strategy increase, the National Trade Bank, the second biggest bank in Albania became just a short time ago part of Calik Group. 80 % of Albtelecom fix operator shareholders and the newest mobile operator Eagle Mobile, are owned by CETEL which is a telecommunication company of Calik Group. 20 % of shareholders are owned by Turk Telecom.
CETEL, with an Agreement for Common Operations in operational services of Albtelecom working with Turk Telecom. Actually, Albtelecom covers around 10 % of Albanian population meaning 3.2 million inhabitants. CETEL is working to enable the link with Albtelecom in order to reach more than 60 % of population, by reaching the Western European Standarts.
