“A Shareholding and Cooperation Agreement” has been signed between Çalık Mining Enterprises Joint-Stock Company (Çalık Mining) that has been operating in the mining sector since 2006 and Anatolia Minerals Development Limited (Anatolia) which originates from Canada and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
With in the context of the agreement, Çalık Mining, will have a total of 20% share of a subsidiary of Anatolia, Çukurdere Madencilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. that owns the operating licence of Çöpler Gold Mine which has been planned to be operational next year located in İliç, Erzincan. In the light of ht current technical evaluations, Çöpler hosts total gold reserves of 6 million ounces and it is expected that the annual gold production will average 175.000 ounces of gold beginning from 2011. Both sides have agreed to act together in mining exploration and development operations in Turkey according to the agreement.
In the statement made by Çalık Holding, one of the long-established enterprises of Turkey whose activities go back to 1930’s, it is expressed that this relationship agreement is an important first step for long-term investments planned in the mining sector of Turkey.
Çalık Group, with USD 4,4 billion consolidated assets size as of year-end 2008 and more than 20.000 of employees today, is going to provide 500 employment during the construction and 250 direct and 1.000 indirect at full capacity production, in addition to its added value for the region.
