Future talks by Çalık Denim

Çalık Denim aims discussing the concepts such as innovation, technology and sustainability in addition to the trends like millennials, wearable technology etc. that will shape the future of the sector, has turned into a platform called Ever Evolving Talks by Çalık Denim event, where different perspectives and experiences are blended with the participation of experts from the fashion world as well as from various sectors and disciplines who talk about the subjects Çalık Denim focuses on.

Çalık Denim known as the leading premium denim producers of the world with its pioneering position in the sector, launched a series of events called “Ever Evolving Talks by Çalık Denim” to bring up opinions and thoughts on future into the agenda in a joint platform.

Inspired by Calik Denim’s ‘Ever Evolving’ motto, the first in their unique new series of annual events, ‘Ever Evolving Talks’ took place on 23 October in Amsterdam to great acclaim. Leaders from the fashion world shared the stage with influential figures from a variety of global disciplines and sectors to delight international audiences from the industry and beyond with their pioneering experiences and contrasting views about the future. This dynamic new event platform will take place every October, a day before the Kingpins Show Amsterdam.

Key speaker Ken Segall, former Agency Creative Director of Apple, talked about the future of simplicity and innovation, and Matthew Drinkwater, Head of Fashion Innovation Agency of the London College of Fashion, shared his thoughts on the wearable technology trends that will affect the future of fashion industry at the event held at the Theater Amsterdam. Thimon de Jong, founder of Whetston - a strategic foresight think tank, provided information on buying preferences and behaviors of generations Y and Z.

According to Ken Segall, there really is no such thing as simplicity, but what there is the perception of simplicity. Segall “It takes a lot of work to make things look simple, and I think that is the goal. The only thing that’s really important in the end is whether it appears to be simple to the customer.” Matthew Drinkwater who was named in the 100 most influential in the world of Wearable Technology, emphasized that when it comes to wearable technology the biggest challenges are: are the products washable and reliable, manufacturable and can they be competitively priced. And Thimon de Jong opened the minds to what millennial consumers expect. “Measuring emotions is crucial to understand buying decisions of the Millennials. They want to trust you, to court with the Millennial consumer use emotion artificial intelligence, get personal & informal and care; so, ethics, ethics & ethics…”

The other sessions were “Sustainability for the Brand” by Adriana Galijasevic, Denim and Sustainability Expert of G-Star Raw, Rune Orloff, founder of Sardin.co, Roian Atwood, Sustainability Director of Wrangler, Marcia Lazar, founder of Zedonk, “Future of Fashion” by Matthew Williams, founder of the brand ALYX, Ouigi Theodore, Creative Director of The Brooklyn Circus, and Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh, co-founders of the brand Art Comes First, and “Power of Cooperation” by Alec Leach, Digital Fashion Editor of Highsnobeity, Lucas Vincent, founder and designer of Ex Iinfinitas, Willy Chavaria, founder and designer of Willy Chavarria, and Izzy Joly, Creative and Brand Partnership Specialist of Avery Dennison.
