GAP İnşaat becomes the first Turkish company to win the “5 Star” Award at its industry

A Çalık Holding company, GAP İnşaat was given the “5 Star” Award by the British Safety Council for its good practices in occupational health and safety at its ‘Çöpler Sulfite Expansion Project’ in İliç, Erzincan. Thus, GAP İnşaat became the first Turkish company to receive this award in its industry.

GAP İnşaat was given the “5 Star Occupational Health and Safety Excellence” Award by one of the leading authorities in occupational health and safety, the British Safety Council. Thus, GAP İnşaat became the first Turkish company to receive this prestigious award in its industry with its ongoing ‘Çöpler Sulfite Expansion Project’ in İliç, Erzincan.

At the ceremony held in the Sait Halim Paşa Mansion, GAP İnşaat Director of Construction Cüneyt Altınok received the award on behalf of the company. Speaking at the ceremony, Altınok said: “Given by the British Safety Council, the 5 Star Occupational Health and Safety Excellence Award is the most important and prestigious award in the world in this field. It is also the most challenging one to win. Minimizing or eliminating any negative impact on our customers, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and other third parties as well as on property and the environment is always a core priority for us in all our operations. In this project, we worked as a team together with our employer, project management company, and all our subcontractors and showed that accident-free construction could be conducted in Turkey. This is a project about which everyone involved will talk about with excitement and pride. Recognition with one of the most coveted awards of the world confirms that we are on the right path with the sensitive approach we have adopted.”
