Winners of ‘My First Job Entrepreneurship’ Competition Were Announced

The fourth edition of ‘My First Job Entrepreneurship’ competition which was jointly organized by Çalık Holding, Yıldız Teknopark and Yıldız TTO in two categories as ‘New Enterprises’ and ‘New Ideas’ was concluded.

The prizes of the winners of ‘My First Job Entrepreneurship’ competition which aims to facilitate discovery of innovative business ideas with commercialization potential that benefit the society jointly organized by Yıldız Technical University, Çalık Holding, Yıldız Teknopark and Yıldız Technology Transfer Office (TTO);were awarded in the ceremony held at Yıldız Technical University Davutpaşa Campus on November 6.

The finalists of the competition that aims to help spread a culture of entrepreneurialism in our country, discover visionary young entrepreneurs, strengthen the entrepreneurialism ecosystem, allow for the commercialization of innovative products and ideas, and encourage them to open to international markets, presented their projects before the jury.

New Enterprises and New Ideas were Awarded

The winners of My First Job Entrepreneurship Competition 2018 received prizes in two categories. In ‘New Enterprises’ category, Fatih Kocabaş won the first prize with his Meinox Medicine Technologies project, followed by Ufuk Çoban with his project named Amblyopia Treatment Assistance System through Virtual Reality Technology and Hazel Topçu with her Haus Freeze Dry project. Those ranking among the top three received their prizes from Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Dr. Çetin Ali DÖNMEZ, Rector of Yıldız Technical University Prof.Dr. Bahri ŞAHİN, Çalık Holding President of the Banking Group Galip Tözge and General Manager of Yıldız Teknopark Prof.Dr. Mesut GÜNER. Prize winners will also have closed, open and virtual office opportunities at Yıldız Incubation.

Among the competitors that succeeded and came out in the ‘New Ideas’ category, Burak Horuz won the first prize with his FilameX – Mini 3D Filament Extrusion Machine project, followed by Erhan Yıldırım with Block – Z project and Talha Korkmaz with Md-Led Therapy project. Top three contestants will also won free office opportunity at Yıldız Pre-Incubation Center for 6 months.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Dr. Dönmez: “We are supporters of all entrepreneurs”

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Dr. Çetin Ali Dönmez delivered a speech at the prize giving ceremony, he emphasized that entrepreneurship is now settled in Turkey and addressed the youth: “You are the future of Turkey. Do not lose your faith in the growth of our country. You should consider the feasibility very well during your studies. Engineer fellows, you should absolutely benefit from the fund of knowledge of your friends that have knowledge of business administration, finance, banking and economy while you are making feasibility studies of the ideas you found. It is possible to do everything at any age, it is not late for anything. Endeavor advances you and your country” he stated. Dönmez stressed that they as the Ministry of Industry and Technology support all technoparks and he said “We are the supporters of all entrepreneurs. I extend my thanks to everyone that contributed to accomplishment of such an opportunity, especially to Çalık Holding and Yıldız Teknopark”

The Rector of Yıldız Technical University Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin laid emphasis on the importance of university-industry cooperation and said that all stakeholders of the society should keep on working to maximize our national objectives. “Education and research should be the business of not only the universities but also the industrial corporations and accordingly there should be a strong cooperation between universities and industry. What is fundamental is the production of information and commercialization of this produced information. It is necessary that entrepreneurs make supportive efforts with the aid of knowledge and science and universities should pioneer this effort.” he commented.

Çalık Holding President of the Banking Group Galip Tözge said “We as Group believe that entrepreneurship plays a very important role in accelerating the pace of Turkey in the way of becoming a country that produces and creates value and also has competitive power. We are committed to fulfill our responsibility to create the ecosystem and expand it.” Mr. Tözge stated that the entrepreneurship enthusiasm of the youth excites themselves as a Group and recommended young entrepreneurs to work determinedly without giving up and giving in to be successful.

General Manager of Yıldız Teknopark Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner said “An entrepreneur is not someone who can’t find a salaried employment with or someone unemployed. It is a person who has an idea and wanting to accomplish that idea, working and striving for this. However, idea comprises 20% of the total work. To accomplish it, on the other hand, is a team work. Success comes when the idea is put on the market”. Güner continued as follows: “Examples from the world and from our country continuously prove how valuable science is. Thanks to science, you can generate more income than you would earn by selling tons of products. “As a part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, we are pleased about the growth of entrepreneurship in our country and the increasing government and NGO incentives that nourish the entrepreneurship ecosystem.”
