Gap İnşaat aims to contribute to Turkey’s efforts against Covid-19 with the “air purifier” it has developed

17.04.2020

As the first step, Gap İnşaat started to hand over 36 devices produced for this purpose to our 32 hospitals combating Covid-19 as a token of social solidarity. In addition, Gap İnşaat is developing two new products and will grant 150 of these innovative devices, which will assume an important role in the fight against Covid-19, to hospitals for the purposes of social solidarity.

Operating under Çalık Holding with ample experience in its healthcare projects abroad, Gap İnşaat has already completed the production of a special air purifying device it has developed in its R&D centres that eliminate coronavirus. Gap İnşaat declared that it will going to grant 36 air cleaners to 32 hospitals in Istanbul and started to hand over the devices to hospitals as of April 12, 2020. The most important feature of the device is its ability to reduce the risk of disease among all healthcare professionals by decreasing virus density in closed spaces. Gap İnşaat has taken it upon itself to take an active role in the national fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and continues its productive efforts for healthy future generations. The company is working on two additional remote-controlled, mobile products that apply UVC on surfaces in all spaces to eradicate viruses.

Gap İnşaat, a subsidiary of Çalık Holding, developed an “air purifier” to contribute to the fight against novel coronavirus and the resulting disease, Covid-19, that has become the most important topic in the global agenda following the announcement of the pandemic by World Health Organisation. With a strong body of experience accumulated through its health projects abroad, Gap İnşaat developed and produced the new device with a 99.9% rate to eliminate of coronavirus Covid-19, with a single passage of air owing to the intensity and duration of UVC light applied. Its portable nature allows the air-conditioning device to be of use in any space and to eliminate viruses in all closed spaces notably including hospitals.

Acting upon its commitment to the country and public health, Gap İnşaat endeavours to reduce the risk of catching the disease and exposure to virus among both our healthcare professionals and users of healthcare services and aims to give “a fresh breath of air to hospitals” with its project that became a product through intensive efforts in a short period of time.

Gap İnşaat, a subsidiary of Çalık Holding, offered remarks on the matter and provided technical details on the device currently being granted to hospitals: “First of all, we would like to express our sincere belief that we will be reunited with healthy days in the shortest time possible through strictly following measures taken by our government and through the spirit of social solidarity and total determination in the fight against Covid-19. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, who selflessly fight against the earth-shattering Covid-19 pandemic for their unique self-sacrifice. Their wellbeing is more important for the wellbeing of the entire society. This device we have developed to fight against the pandemic, prevents exposure to virus among healthcare professionals and patients by cleaning the air from viruses in closed spaces as it is most needed at this period in time. The device captures airborne viruses on its HEPA filter and eliminates by exposure to UVC light. The portable device is able to work unaided upon the mere act of plugging without any further step needed for its assembly. We are producing two types with a capacity of 1.000m3/h and 2.000m3/h, respectively. The current Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the insufficiency of intensive care units in many other countries and this left the infected patients being admitted to various closed spaces including hospital halls and field hospitals. Once plugged, our product will be able to work in intensive care units and all other closed spaces. The virus is then exposed to UVC light at its own bulb-intensity for 0.79 second, eliminating 99% of all airborne coronaviruses. The air passes through UVC light followed by H14-class HEPA filter that is %99.995 efficient in capturing particles of and over 0.3µ in size. The virus has a diameter of 0,1-0,2µ in itself, but the device is expected to capture the virus, as the virus does not move alone and is carried with other particles or in saliva released from the human mouth. Moreover, the air in a closed space of 100m2 in size and 3 m of height will pass through the product 3 to 7 times per hour. Therefore, the process is repeated 3 to 7 times per hour of operation.”

Gap İnşaat granted the device to the following hospitals: Kartal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Ümraniye Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Sancaktepe Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Marmara Üniversitesi Pendik Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Sultan 2. Abdulhamit Han Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Medeniyet Üniversitesi Göztepe Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Haydarpaşa Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Beykoz Devlet Hastanesi, Üsküdar Devlet Hastanesi, Sultanbeyli Devlet Hastanesi, Tuzla Devlet Hastanesi, Adana İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü.

Gap İnşaat is working on two additional products along with the air purifier that eliminates airborne viruses. The new remote-controlled and mobile products will eliminate the virus by projecting UVC light on all surfaces in spaces not inhabited by humans and their production will commence upon the completion of the development process.

Gap İnşaat will grant 150 pieces of the three innovative devices to hospitals around Turkey as products that will play an important role in the fight against Covid-19.
